This map shows days with highs above 105   90 F in 2020; now lets look at the same map in thirty years,

Kinja'd!!!

Yep, the deep south and Arizona look fucking unlivable by then.

Kinja'd!!!

But if we switch around and look at a map for days with the low under 32F, it looks like this in 2020:

Kinja'd!!!

And 2050....

Kinja'd!!!

So... the midwest is starting to look appealing by then. Lets overlap density over all of this:

Kinja'd!!!

It’s basically empty! Go and buy land up there!

200+ days at 105F in 2020? I’m going to call bullshit on whatever source that is.

San Antonio Texas (in that dark red area) barely gets 20 days a year currently . This map says it is going to jump to 200 in the next year? Horse doo doo.

Even that seems wrong, 90 an above average hovers around 100 days. 2017 had 114 days of 90 and above. They are going to double in a year?

Doubling the last decade average in just over a year seems outside the realm of statistically possibility   and in the realm of a statical anomaly . What website are you using?

I never want to live in a city that goes above 80F or under 32F. For practical purposes of course.

Some snow fell on Monterrey today, so people are starting to think it might snow further south and all I can think of is how shitty Mexican drivers are and how shitty they could be with a little bit of snow/ice water.

Kinja'd!!! Berang > Spanfeller is a twat
11/13/2018 at 20:51

The problem with most of those empty spaces is there is a lack of natural water in amounts great enough to sustain large populations.

Kinja'd!!! Spanfeller is a twat > Berang
11/13/2018 at 20:53

Kinja'd!!!0

They expect precipitation around those areas to increase heavily in the next 30 years. So as long as they improve their rain-water collection methods, it’s OK.

I find some irony in air conditioning

You buy it cus its hot

The consumption and gases make climate change worse

You need to buy a better one cus its hotter

The consumption and gases make climat e change worse....

Flag on the play, false equivalence.

Short term weather conditions are highly localised and changeable, long term averages and macro trends are much dfferent and more well understood.

Although your point does s tand  to a degree: it’s actually getting hotter faster than many predicted.

Even in the worst possible case scenario, Palm Springs would never be true oceanfront. It might be near an inlet, but it would be pretty shallow.

But yeah, no more Mexicali. Might as well just attach BC to CA and be done with it at that point.

it’s been brought up more than once that drought-parched areas (e.g. California) that there should be a way to “pipe” water from the Great Lakes to places which need it.

which ain’t gonna happen.  No matter how awesome California thinks they are.
